What to Know Before You Book
We keep things simple. Here's everything you need to know—and why each policy exists to make your dog's stay better.
Veterinary Care
We ask that all guests be current on veterinary-recommended care before their stay.
Requirements:
- Ensure your dog is up to date on all vet recommendations
- Bring any relevant records from your veterinarian
- Let us know about any recent health concerns
Why this matters:
Keeping every guest healthy and safe is our top priority. We trust you and your vet to make the best decisions for your dog's care.
💡 Tip: Not sure what your vet recommends? Give them a quick call before your visit — they'll know exactly what your dog needs.
Reservations & Availability
We recommend booking in advance, especially for holidays and summer months.
Requirements:
- Call to check availability and reserve
- Holidays book up 2-4 weeks ahead
- Last-minute requests accommodated when possible
- Deposits may be required for extended stays
Why this matters:
We keep our numbers manageable to ensure every dog gets individual attention. That means we sometimes fill up—but it also means your dog won't get lost in the crowd.
💡 Tip: Not sure about dates? Call anyway. We're flexible and happy to work with you.
Safety & Temperament
Every dog is different, and we take time to understand your pup's personality.
Requirements:
- Special areas for anxious or senior dogs
- Individual exercise (no forced pack play)
Why this matters:
This isn't about being exclusive—it's about being responsible. We need to ensure every dog (and our staff) stays safe. Most dogs do wonderfully here.
💡 Tip: Worried about your dog's anxiety? Let's talk. We have "fragile egg" areas specifically for sensitive pups.
Drop-off & Pick-up
Smooth transitions make the experience better for everyone—especially your dog.
Requirements:
- Monday-Friday: 7:30am - 6:00pm
- Saturday-Sunday: 7:30am - 12:00pm & 5:00pm - 6:00pm
- Please arrive within business hours (holiday hours may vary—please call ahead)
- Check out before 12:00 noon on departure day to avoid an extra day's charge
Why this matters:
Consistent schedules reduce stress for dogs. They learn the routine and feel more comfortable knowing when things happen.
💡 Tip: Running late? Just give us a call. Life happens—we understand.
Special Needs & Medications
We welcome dogs with special dietary, medical, or emotional needs.
Requirements:
- Medication administered at no extra cost with detailed tracking
- Special diets accommodated at no extra cost
- Senior dog care with extra attention
- Anxious dogs get dedicated quiet spaces
Why this matters:
Your dog's health doesn't take a vacation just because you do. We're experienced with complex care needs and treat every case individually.
💡 Tip: Please bring any medications in original containers with clear instructions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Still have questions? We're always happy to chat.
What should I bring for my dog's stay?
Just your dog or cat! We provide premium food, but you're welcome to bring their regular food if they're picky. Familiar toys or blankets can help anxious pets settle in. Skip the fancy bed—we have comfortable bedding here.
Can I tour the facility before booking?
Absolutely! We love showing off Top Dog. You're welcome to stop by for a tour anytime during business hours—no appointment needed. Seeing the space often puts worried pet parents at ease.
What happens if my dog gets sick?
We monitor every dog constantly and are experienced at spotting problems early. If needed, we'll contact you immediately and can coordinate with local vets. Your dog's health is always the priority.
Do you do pack daycare?
No!—and that's intentional. Pack daycares can be stressful and even dangerous. We provide dedicated, supervised individual exercise designed around each dog's unique temperament. It's safer and less overwhelming for your dog.
Is someone there overnight?
Yes! A staff member lives on the property, so someone is always available if anything comes up. This isn't a 9-5 operation.
What makes you different from other kennels?
Individual attention (not pack chaos), architect-designed facilities, chemical-free environment, 50+ years of professional experience, and staff who live on-site. We built the kennel we'd want for our own dogs.
Still Have Questions?
We're genuinely happy to answer any questions you have. No pressure, no sales pitch—just honest answers from people who love dogs as much as you do.
